The Cleaner Way to Toxin-Less Living
What Does "The Cleaner Way" Mean?
Living the Cleaner Way means making everyday choices that bring you closer to nature and farther from harmful toxins.
It's choosing whole foods over ultra-processed foods when you can. Opening the windows instead of relying solely on artificial air, when you can. Taking a walk outside, grounding in the sand, prioritizing quality sleep, swapping to cleaner products, and creating a home environment that supports health rather than working against it.
Perfection isn't the goal.
We can't eliminate every chemical, pollutant, pesticide, heavy metal, endocrine disruptor or environmental toxin from modern life. But we can make more informed choices that reduce our overall toxic burden (also called toxic load) and better support the body's natural ability to thrive.
This is what I call toxin-less living—not toxin-free, but less.
Small changes, practiced consistently over time, can create meaningful improvements in how you feel, function, and live. That is the Cleaner Way!
Putting it into Practice - The Simply Clean Method™
When attempting to live cleaner, and learning about toxins, endocrine disruptors, organic vs. conventional, then attempting to add in good nutrition, supplements, fitness, healthier living and mental wellness, it can feel overwhelming.
That's why I created The Simply Clean Method™—a practical framework that simplifies cleaner living into three manageable steps:
1. Lower the Load - Reduce toxin exposure across ingestion (food, drinks), absorption (skin care products), and inhalation (cleaning products, air quality).
No matter how healthy we think we are, let’s say if your diet is optimized but we are applying toxic chemicals and endocrine disruptors to our skin everyday, our toxic load increases. Toxic burden depletes the body and zaps metabolic resources making it harder to be healthy. In order to lower our load, you have to swap to Cleaner products, in all areas of ingestion, absorption and inhalation. Once your toxic burden is too high, toxins get stored in your liver and organs and it becomes harder to get rid of leading to inflammation, low mitochondrial function (energy) and disease. Not to mention this burden produces symptoms associated with feeling sluggish, exhausted and inflamed. So the goal is to reduce your overall toxic load or burden to the body. Each day, we strive for “toxin-less” exposures that I call Safer Swaps.
2. Support the Systems - Strengthen the body's key systems—including digestion, detoxification, immune function, hormones, lymphatic flow, the nervous system and mental wellness.
Even if you’re optimizing your supplements each day to support your key systems, if you have toxic burden, your system cannot function properly. It is important that you not only lower your toxic load, through safer swaps every day, you also have to support the systems, One can’t work without the other. To support the systems, we will focus on practical tools, bio-hacks and routines along with recommendations for supplementation or bio-marker monitoring.
3. Restore Balance - Create sustainable habits that help you feel more energized, resilient, and connected to the natural rhythms your body was designed for.
The ultimate goal is to align as close as we can with nature. When we eat more whole foods, (foods from nature like an apple or minimally processed meat), use more natural products (like serums made from botanicals vs. synthetic chemicals) and strive for natural air (vs. polluting our indoor air with chemicals) we lower our toxic load which allows the body the energy to function properly. When the body has the energy to perform, and we support those systems, we allow the body to do it’s job. What it was meant to do, as nature designed it. This is living optimally, this is living in balance with nature.
How I help you live the Cleaner Way
Step 1. Lower the Load
Reduce the everyday exposures that place toxic burden on the body.
We'll start by identifying the areas creating the greatest toxic load in your life and prioritize the changes that will have the biggest impact.
Together we'll look at:
🥗 Food & Nutrition
🧴 Personal Care Products
🧼 Home Cleaning Products
🍳 Cookware & Food Storage
🌬️ Indoor Air Quality
💧 Water Quality
👚 Clothing & Textiles
💤 Sleep & Recovery
🌿 Lifestyle Habits
The goal isn't perfection. It's helping you make practical, sustainable changes that fit your life and reduce your toxic load.
For those wanting more in depth hands-on support, add-on experiences are available including:
🏠 Home Clean Sweep (I help you “clean” your home with Safer Swaps and Toxin-Less strategies)
🛒 Aisle by Aisle (I go grocery shopping with you and teach how to identify Safer Swaps)
🍽️ Cleaner Plate (We have a meal together learning how to order cleaner when dining out)
Step 2. Support the Systems
Help the body function optimally, adapt, and thrive.
Once we've reduced toxic exposures, we focus on supporting the body's natural systems so they can operate at their best.
Depending on your goals, this may include recommendations around nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management, supplements, and daily habits.
Together we'll support:
🧠 Nervous System
Stress resilience and recovery
🛡️ Immune System
Defense and protection
💧 Lymphatic System
Drainage and circulation
🌿 Digestive System
Gut health and absorption
⚖️ Hormonal System
Balance and regulation
♻️ Detoxification Systems
The body's natural elimination pathways
Every recommendation is personalized to your goals, lifestyle, comfort level, and budget.
Step 3. Restore Balance
Create sustainable habits that help you feel more energized, resilient, and connected to the natural rhythms your body was designed for.
When we lower the load and support the body's systems, we create the conditions for the body to do what it was designed to do.
This isn't about perfection. It's about creating a lifestyle that feels sustainable, enjoyable, and aligned with your health goals.
As healthier choices become habits, many people experience:
✓ More energy throughout the day
✓ Better sleep and recovery
✓ Greater resilience to stress
✓ Reduced symptoms
✓ More connection to their body and overall well-being
✓ A healthier home environment for themselves and their families
The goal isn't to follow a complicated protocol forever. The goal is to build a lifestyle that feels natural, manageable, and supports long-term wellness.
Why I Created The Simply Clean Method
Hi, I’m Heather Olson Grundeman — a Certified Integrative Nutrition and Health Coach, former entertainment executive, mom, and founder of Simply Clean Health.
If you're a busy parent trying to make healthier choices for your family— wondering what is healthier in the grocery aisle, questioning ingredients, hearing stories of toxic chemicals, confused by mixed signals and click bait recommendations, but ultimately you want to support and improve your family’s health—you're not alone.
One expert says eat this.
Another says avoid it.
One podcast recommends a supplement.
Another says you don't need it.
One article says your cookware is safe.
The next says it's toxic.
Suddenly, something as simple as buying groceries, choosing skincare, or making dinner can feel overwhelming.
I know because I've been there.
My journey into health and wellness didn't begin as a health coach. It began as a daughter.
Both of my parents were diagnosed with cancer. My father faced cancer twice, and I lost him. Along the way, I saw firsthand how reactive our healthcare system can be—often focused on treating disease after it appears rather than helping people understand how to support their health before problems arise.
When I became a mother myself, everything changed.
I wanted to understand what was truly healthy—not just for me, but for my family.
That curiosity turned into a deep dive.
Over the years, I've spent thousands of hours listening to physicians, researchers, nutrition experts, and wellness professionals. I've read books, reviewed studies, followed emerging research, tested products, questioned assumptions, and explored countless approaches to health and longevity. I went back to school to study nutrition and got Board Certified in Health and Wellness coaching.
What I discovered was that most people don't need more information.
They're drowning in information.
What they need is clarity.
That's why I created The Simply Clean Method™.
